Each year the Faculty of Social Sciences announces a number of recurring grants that are available to apply for certain categories of faculty staff. Also, please note the deadlines concerning appointments and courses for teaching in higher education.

Grants

Application months

The application months are to be used to draw up research applications. PhD holders employed until further notice as senior lecturer or lecturer at the Faculty of Social Sciences, who do not have more than 30 percent of their position reserved for research, can apply.

The application deadline is 15 February

Faculty travel and research grants

Researchers, doctoral students, lecturers or readers at Lund University can apply for the faculties’ travel and research grants each autumn and spring semester.

The next application period is 23 January - 12 February.

Funding for research on innovation and society

Senior lecturers and associate senior lecturers employed at the Faculty of Social Sciences can apply for funding for research on the theme of innovation and society. The grant covers 20 percent of the salary costs for a year. The recipient is expected to spend one day per week at CIRCLE.

The application deadline is 15 March.

Funding for research-related external engagement

PhD holders employed until further notice as senior lecturer or lecturer at the Faculty of Social Sciences, who do not have more than 30 percent of their position reserved for research, can apply for funding to develop collaborations with external actors. The aim is to enrich the faculty's research and highlight the role of the social sciences in society.

The application deadline is 30 April.

Funding for education-related activities

With this call for applications the faculty wishes to encourage projects and ideas for development activities that promote education in a broad sense. Funding is available for educational development time, including activities related to widening recruitment and participation, collaboration with external agents and lifelong learning. 

Teaching staff employed for an indefinite term, associate senior lecturers, and technical and administrative staff employed for an indefinite term can apply.

Appointments

Recognised or Excellent Teaching Practitioner

Lecturers, senior lecturers and professors on indefinite-term contracts, or associate senior lecturers, at the Faculty of Social Sciences are invited to have their teaching qualifications assessed with the aim of being apppointed as recognised or excellent teaching practitioner.

Yearly deadline for applications is 15 September.

The Academic Appointments Board processes applications for readership once per semester. 

Deadline during the 2024 spring semester is 15 April.

Teaching and Learning Research Methods in Social Sciences

The Faculty of Social Sciences is now planning a new course for those who teach social science research methods and want to explore new ways to develop their pedagogy and strengthen students' learning.
