Revised project plan for the organisation project

On 19 September, the Faculty Board decided on a revised project plan for the project "Organisational development towards fewer and larger units at the Faculty of Social Sciences".

In the new plan, the project's connection to education and research has been clarified, among other things.  The description of planned activities for the coming year has also been updated.

Since the organisation project will run over several years and the conditions change over time, we expect to revise the project plan at least once a year, says Charlotte Simonsson, Vice Dean and project manager for the organisation project.

Since the previous project plan was written, the organisation project has developed into an overall project and currently three sub-projects with planned and possible mergers in different phases. The three sub-projects are:

  • The formation of the new Department of Communication, comprising the subjects of Strategic Communication, Media and Communication Studies and Journalism at the turn of 2024/2025.
  • The process of merging the Department of Sociology and the Department of Gender Studies, planned for the end of 2024/beginning of 2025.
  • Feasibility study for a possible merger between the Department of Human Geography and LUCSUS.
